Press release – June 2010

Thursday 17th June (2pm-11pm)

With just 24 hours to go until the first ever UK Pro Surfers Flowriding Championships at Retallack Resort & Spa, Cornwall (2pm-11pm), the competition has been given an extra edge with the news that British & European champion longboarder Ben Skinner has been added to the competitor list, in addition to Swiss female champion Celine Gehret and Irish surfer Nicole Morgan. The majority of the professional surfers taking part in the artificial wave event have been taking advantage of practice sessions on the artificial 12m wide wave and Ben is among those looking strong ahead of the inaugural competition.

Organized by the UKPSA and run in association with the Gul Night Surf Event, the Flowriding Championships at Retallack is set to be an unusual and exciting event, with a special set of judging criteria having been drawn up with the help of Retallack’s Flowrider® staff. The event is open to the public (free of charge) and will also include live music, a full bar, a BBQ, stalls, and prize draws to win Flowrider® passes that can be used at a later date. Christian Surfers have supplied a mobile skate ramp and there will also be a “learn to DJ” decks set-up.
